Truck driving school requirements
For the state of New Jersey, you must meet the following requirements before attending a truck driving school:
- 18 years of age or older
- 20/40 vision for both eyes with or without the assistance of glasses/contact lenses
- Have a New Jersey Class D drivers license – what you use to legally drive a car
- Ability to distinguish green, red, and amber colors
- Be physically able to operate a tractor-trailer
Some truck driving schools have additional requirements that you would need to fulfill. For example, many require that you have a good driving record, or that you pass a Department of Transportation physical examination.
