Iowa MVD Online Services

When you don’t have time to make the trip to your local Iowa MVD branch, you can take advantage of the services available on the Iowa DOT website.  Online services include the ability to renew or replace a license or state issued ID, order specialty license plates, and request oversize and entrance to highway permits.

Iowa MVD Services

The Iowa MVD, which residents of other states might refer to as the “Iowa DMV”, provides a full slate of services from their physical locations across the state. Most branches will offer you the ability to obtain, replace, or renew many important licenses and registrations including:

  • Driver’s licenses
  • State IDs
  • Vehicle registrations (and additional copies)
  • Vehicle tabs and plates
  • Request motor vehicle records
  • Motorcycle and CDL driver testing

If your Iowa driver’s license is does not have a REAL ID mark, you can receive the REAL ID market with the proper documentation for $10. 

The cost to renew an Iowa driver’s license is  $8 for a 2 year license, $20 for a 5 year license.
