How To Get an Arkansas Motorcycle License

To legally operate a motorcycle in Arkansas you’ll need to possess a Class M license, which means you’ll need to have knowledge of the state’s standard driver’s license requirements as well as Arkansas motorcycle laws and regulations. You will need to pass the Arkansas motorcycle license written test, a riding skills test, and a vision screening before you will be issued your license.

To apply for a license, you must be at least 16 years old and possess and instruction permit that proves your completion of the requirements listed above. For applicants between 14 and 16 years old Arkansas offers a restricted Class MD license that allows riders to operate motorcycles 250cc or smaller. For more information on specific Arkansas motorcycle laws, follow this link to learn more about helmet laws, eye protection, lane splitting and more.

It is recommended that you review the Arkansas driver license study guide as well as the Arkansas Motorcycle Endorsement study guide as they cover information to earn a standard class D license as well as information specific to the class M Arkansas motorcycle driver’s license test.

If you are licensed to drive a motorcycle in another state you can visit your local office of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration’s Driver Services division and present them with your valid out-of-state motorcycle license and discuss your options for obtaining a new license. If your license is out of date you may have to retake the Arkansas motorcycle tests.
