Applicants can apply for any CDL and necessary endorsements when they are 21 years of age or older. Applicants may apply for a restricted CDL at the age of 18 years old. • Possessing more than one state driver’s license.
  • Having restricted CDL driving privileges in another state.
  • Being convicted of driving impaired within 24 months prior to submitting a CDL application.

All applicants must successfully pass both a skills test and a knowledge test in order to receive their Maryland CDL. To receive specific endorsements, individuals must pass examinations about the endorsement as well.
